If you have a 1-4 train of ore, then you can easily handle 8 full belts for whatever purpose. I tend to use 1-2 trains for ore, as it is simpler to set up 1-2 stations at mines. Most deposits are not big enough to fill more than 4 belts of ore, so I just load those 4 onto a 1-2 train. You can choose whatever length trains you want though.
